What is a Sacrament? (C249)

A Sacrament is an outward sign of inward grace, ordained by Jesus Christ, by which grace is given to our souls. (Catechesim of Catholic Church 249)

This Sacrament is also known as Last Rites/Extreme Unction. The sacrament unites a sick person’s suffering with that of Jesus and brings forgiveness of sin. Oil is a symbol of strength. You can receive this Sacrament more than once.
Sacrament: Anointing of the Sick
Signs/Symbols: Oil of the Sick, and laying on of hands from the priest; sign of the Cross.
